I received this organiser as an unexpected gift from my mother this Christmas. Which, unbeknownst to her, was the exact style I had my eye on when I first looked into the possibility of purchasing one a year ago.

It is lovely to have in the hands. The leather isn't the softest to the touch, but that means deep scratches and the like, are less likely to cause damage. However, the leather is nice and flexible out the box, while also feeling robust. I had no worries about breaking it in. Which, as someone who is very light handed with my possessions, the process takes twice as long.

The design detail of using a long strip of leather to sew in and enclose the sides, instead of burnishing or gluing, is well-appreciated; and will certainly be far more hardwearing than the latter, while also looking much better in my opinion.

The metal logo stud on the clasp is perfectly level. Which is highly important to those who enjoy attention-to-detail like myself, and when spending a good amount of money on a product. It has a satisfying and secure click when opened and pressed closed. While having a slightly longer strip of leather on the front side of the strap, prevents the leather from staying taut and snapping under pressure, while simultaneously creating lovely wrinkle lines with wear and age.

The spine appears to be reinforced with metal at the top and bottom (probably a part of the ring closure mechanism), to stop them caving in when pressure is applied. The buttons on the ring mechanism used to open it, are easy enough to push down, that you don't feel like your fingertips are going to bruise. Though I can't say the same when closing them. I'll always be scared of trapping my fingers in it!

The fact that it comes with a massive heap of refills to get you started, is great, and something they could've easily skimped out on. The quality of the paper used is top notch also, and alot are fountain-pen-friendly. Which I, as a lover of fountain pens, I find to be wonderful.

My only issue, or rather question, is surrounding the treatment and creation process of the leather. I suspect, (as it is not vegetable-tanned nor stated by Filofax of the specifics), it will have been made through a highly chemicalised system, that removes the nice strong smell and feel of the leather, which is horribly wasteful and can be harmful for those making it; and is usually done for quickness rather than quality, as it is less labour intensive than other old and more natural processes. Though it is always nice to support an in country business, and means the manufacturing process will likely be more regulated than if sourced outside of the UK to who knows what sweatshop.

All in all, I am extremely pleased with this organiser, and look forward to using it for many years to come. I may even buy another one in the future!

I’ve waited a long time to get this planner, and it was worth the wait. A lovely cool shade of baby pink and some interesting crinkles and wrinkles on the leather to give a little bit of texture (I was hoping I would get this ☺️). The rings were tight and closed well. Delivery was before the expected date so that was a bonus.
Very pleased, I’ve stroked this a few times and looking forward to using it.

I bought the malden personal in kingfisher blue which i use everyday and I am still as in love with the colour, style and feel of the antiqued buffalo leather today as i was when i first got it in 2020. I later purchased a pocket malden in stone too and its immaculate. I have used the personal as my everything diary, trackers, ideas hub. The pocket malden has been used as a finance diary for tracking bill payments and savings and keeping payment cards. Id like to use it as an alphabetised password hub now too. The personal malden will be for all creative ideas in future as iv decided id like more space to plan with the a5 time management diary refill. Now just to pick an organiser cover. I plan to have these maldens forever and they seem to be holding up well as they are still stunning as the day i got them

I bought this Filofax as a gift so I am unable to give a user response. However, my first impression is of excellent quality and a crafted finish.
